A bit like saying I patch my computer so I don&amp;#39;t need a firewall. Besides if you don&amp;#39;t use anti-virus how are you 100% sure you don&amp;#39;t have a virus, unless you manually check the hex of everything on your system to make sure it&amp;#39;s clean. Just because nothing unpleasant has happenned to suggest a virus in all that time certainly doesn&amp;#39;t mean you haven&amp;#39;t had one.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Unless you configure it to constantly run full system scans AV is usually pretty low over head. You wouldn&amp;#39;t say I haven&amp;#39;t had a car crash since 1992 so I don&amp;#39;t need to wear a seat belt, why be any different with AV? It&amp;#39;s like it&amp;#39;s even that expensive any more.&lt;/p&gt;

Would not install. Automatic &amp;quot;intelligent&amp;quot; technician found 15 missing files. Uninstalled. Re-installed. Same problem. Chat help was NO help. Had to get a special unload to remove ALL Macafee. Then I got my money back. 2+ hours shot. Done. Moved onto Trend Micro. Easy quick install. Causes some screen repaint problems but at least works and they have a free trial.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I downloaded spyware doctor with antivirus-PCTOOLS&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It was not supported, it took 4 e-mails and&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;an actual phone call to Corp to get my money back!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I tried Panda before settling on Norton 360 and had an experience very similar to CSOS.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I came looking for this page because I&amp;#39;m not going to renew my Norton license, and need a good, free anti-virus for 64-bit Vista. &amp;nbsp;Thank you to everyone that contributed comments ... I think you&amp;#39;ve helped me decide on AVAST ... I&amp;#39;ll give it a shot anyway.&lt;/p&gt;
